Calvin, the son of James and Ruth Brissey, was born on 13 August 1924.

 

While in high school, Calvin was a member of the Tumbling Squad and a Homeroom Officer.  On 6 June 1942, Calvin graduated from Burlington High School.

 

He was a carrier for Burlington’s newspaper, Hawk-Eye Gazette.  At the time he had one of the cities largest routes.  Later he was an assistant manager at Wholesale Distributors magazine agency and was employed for a time at the Hotel Burlington garage.

 

Calvin entered the United States Marine Corps in April 1943.   He, assigned to the 23rd Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, that took part in the Battle of Saipan.  It was during this battle that he was Killed-In-Action on 15 June 1944.

 

In addition to his parents, Calvin is survived by his brother James, who is taking advanced training at a marine school in Norman, Okalahoma.

 

Private First Class Calvin Lee Brissey, Unites States Marine Corps, is buried in Burlington’s Aspen Grove Cemetery.
