Delbert W. Webster

Technical Sergeant

United States Army Air Forces

Delbert W. Webster, the only child of Clarence and Louise M. Webster, was born on 25 September 1918.

Delbert graduated from Burlington High School in 1936 and was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.  He worked at the Neisner store in Burlington until May 1941, when he was transferred to St Paul as an assistant manager.

He was inducted into the United States Army Air Forces on 30 April 1942, and left for overseas duty as a radio technician on a medium bomber on 1 March 1943.  In a 7 May 1943 War Department telegram, Delbert’s parents were informed that he was killed in action on 25 April in the Palestine area.  A memorial service was held for Delbert on 23 May 1943 at the Bethany Lutheran Church.  During the memorial service, a gold star on the church service flag replaced a blue star.
