Glen R. Speidel, the son of Ambrose and Claudine Speidel, was born in Burlington, Iowa on 1925. He was as member of the First Christian Church.
Glen graduated from Burlington High School in 1943.
A former Burlington Hawk-Eye Gazette carrier, Glen later worked at the Lagomarcino-Grupe Company, before entering the service in March 1944. He left for the European Theater of Operations in February 1945, where he was assigned to the 387th Infantry Regiment, 97th Infantry Division. In a 23 April 1945 War Department telegram, Glen’s father learned that he was Killed-In-Action in Germany on 9 April.
Glen was survived by his father; and one brother, Verne (Jack). His mother preceded him in death.
Private First Class Glen R. Speidel, United States Army, is buried in Burlington’s Aspen Grove Cemetery.
