Norman E. Walker

Norman E. Walker, son of J. Peter and Mary Etta Walker, was born circa 1906.

 

Norman graduated from Burlington (Iowa) High School, Class of 1923 and the State University of Iowa. 

 

Norman married the former Elizabeth Marie Disque on 28 December 1929.

 

He worked in the insurance business in Burlington and later moved to Rock Island, Illinois were he worked at Rock Island Arsenal.

 

His sister, Irene, received a War Department telegram informing her that Norman died in France on 17 June 1944 of wounds he received the day before.

 

Norman was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.  He was survived by his sister, Irene.

 

Private First Class Norman E. Walker, United States Army, was buried in Normandy American Cemetery, St. Laurent-sur-Mer, France.

 

Among his awards and decorations is the Soldier's Medal and the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster.
